The mission of the Gauteng Office of the Premier is to lead and coordinate Gauteng’s strategic agenda by ensuring ethical governance, building partnerships, driving public service innovation, and delivering inclusive services that enhance the well-being of all residents. The Office of the Premier will achieve its mission by leveraging its interconnected strategic roles. These roles reflect its apex position in driving inclusive and coordinated development across the Gauteng City Region. The Office of the Premier’s governance model (value chain) drives service delivery through five core pillars: leading, coordinating, mobilising, overseeing and evaluating. It leads by shaping and articulating a clear strategic agenda, aligning national, provincial and local priorities, and addressing regional challenges. 

It coordinates and mobilises by aligning resources, capabilities and stakeholders across government and society. This includes integrating planning and service delivery, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and focusing on high-impact interventions that address systemic challenges. At the same time, it builds collective action by engaging citizens, businesses and social partners to strengthen trust, promote active participation and advance shared development goals. The Office of the Premier ensures accountability and continuous improvement through its oversight and evaluation functions. It monitors delivery through evidence-based approaches, strengthens governance frameworks, and enhances transparency across all spheres of government.
